 Five Horse Johnson: “acabamos de terminar la grabación de un nuevo álbum. Su titulo es THE MYSTERY SPOT”

**Con motivo del paso de Five HOrse Johnson por Bilbao el pasado sábado, rescatamos esta entrevista del fondo de nuestro blog para aquellos que no tuvisteis oportunidad de leerla en su momento**

Estas son las palabras que intercambiamos con el frontman de Five Horse Johnson, Eric Oblander. Y ahí está la sorpresa, sacan nuevo disco “The Mystery Spot”. Seguramente les tendremos de gira por Europa presentando su nuevo trabajo. Cuando? De momento habrá que esperar a que salga su nueva obra y ya volveremos a charlar con este caballero para saber primera mano todo en cuanto a este nuevo hijo y como no, su visita por nuestras tierras.

Para empezar, me gustaría saber que estáis haciendo en la actualidad. Últimamente no se sabe nada de vosotros. Quizás preparando un disco?

Si!!  Acabamos de terminar la grabación de un nuevo álbum.  El título es "The Mystery Spot".  Saldra con Small Stone Records y como invitado, aparece J.P. Gaster de “Clutch” a la bateria. La producción es grande¡¡

Me gustaría que hablásemos un poco de música. Es sabido que estáis influenciados por bandas como ZZ top…. Que otro tipo de bandas os gustan?

WOW!!  Esa es una gran pregunta.  Ciertamente, escuchamos todo tipo de música.  Mucho Blues,  Funk, rock de los 70, Reggae, Punk Rock y rap. Son demasiadas bandas para citar a unas pocas.


¿Alguna banda actual que puedas recomendarnos? ¿Con cual os gustaría girar?

Bien, para ser honesto, no suelo escuchar muchas bandas actuales.  De todos modos, la mayoría del nuevo material que escuchamos suena como los  clásicos...como “Dungen” de Suecia.  Tengo todos sus discos y les ví en Chicago hace tiempo.  Saben rockear.

En Europa sois una banda a la que se os tiene mucho cariño. Se incluye un servidor. Os sentís a gusto tocando aquí? Es probable que vengáis en un futuro no muy lejano?

Amamos girar por Europa! Allí la gente rockea y realmente disfrutan de la música.  Siempre estaremos girando por Europa!

Os gustaría dejar de ser una banda underground, o por el contrario os sentís a gusto así?

Realmente, no nos preocupa, tanto como que la gente se divierta con nosotros.

Volviendo otra vez a las influencias. Me puedes contar que significa para vosotros el Southern Rock? Realmente es una forma de vida? Te lo pregunto porque bandas como Lynyrd Skynyrd o The Allman Brothers Band, por citar algunos, son como familias y ese sentimiento que transmiten es tan importante como la música. Os veis así?

Seguro!!  Definitivamente tenemos “un sentimiento familiar” en nuestra banda. Intentamos mantener nuestra integridad en la banda como si de un circulo hermético se tratase. Realmente no vivimos en el Sur, pero mantenemos un gran lazo con ellos. Nos movemos en Harleys y yenemos perros enormes, bebemos cerveza .....

Cuales son vuestros planes mas inmediatos?

Planes para el futuro?  Bien, vamos a colocar nuestro nuevo cd "The Mystery Spot" en la calle y luego iremos a presentarlo por allí.

To begin with, I would like to know what you are doing nowadays.  Recently nobody knows about you. Perhaps preparing a new album?

YES!!  we just finished a new album.  it is called "The Mystery Spot".  it will be released on Small Stone Records and features J.P. Gaster from Clutch on the drums.  It turned out great!!

I would like to talk a bit about music.  Its known you are influenced by groups like Zz top... what other group’ do you like or you find interesting?
 
WOW!!  thats a pretty big question.  we listen to just about everything.  lots of Blues,  Funk, 70s rock, Reggae, Punk Rock and rap.  too many to pick just a few.

Any up to date group that you guys can recommend us? Which one you would like to be in a tour with?
 
well, to be honest I don’t listent to a whole lot of new music.  most of the new stuff i like sounds old anyway...like Dungen from Sweden.  I have all of there records and saw them in Chicago a while ago.  they rocked.

In Europe you are a group that people appreciate, including me. Do you feel comfortable playing here? Is there a chance to come here in the future?
 
We love touring Europe! the fans rock, and really enjoy the music.  we’ll ALWAYS be touring there.

Would you like to stop to be a undergroung  group or do you feel good like that?
 
we don’t really care, as long as people have fun.

Going back to your influences, can you tell me what Southern Rock means for you? Is truly a way of life? Am I asking you this because groups as Lynyrd Skynyrd o The Allman Brothers Band are like families, and that feeling they transmit is as important as music? Do you see yourselves like that?
 
for sure!!  we deffinatly have a "family vibe" to our band.  we try to keep our whole band thing in a tight circle.  We don’t really live in "southern" USA, but we deffinatly have ties to them.  we ride Harleys and have big dogs, drink beer ect.

What are your plans in the future?
 
futrure plans?  well were gonna put out the new CD "The Mystery Spot" and go from there.
