ENTREVISTA CON ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY/INTERVIEW WITH A.T.P(english version inmediately after spanish)
BRIAN:creo que mucho material nuevo que vamos escribiendo, nos ha ido sorprendiendo incluso a nosotros mismos.
Aqui tenéis la charla que mantuvimos con Brian(batería de A.T.P). Sin duda, todo un honor para nosotros y especialmente para un servidor. Si aún no los habéis descubierto... Estáis a tiempo. Esta gente merece la pena¡¡

.- En primer lugar y ante todo, agradeceros que hayáis accedido a mantener esta charla con EL BAILE DE LAS SOMBRAS.
Sin problema.- ¿En que momento se encuentra la banda actualmente? Me refiero a, si tenéis algún proyecto en mente.
Casi hemos terminado nuestro Nuevo disco. Todavía no sabemos cuando va a salir al Mercado porque ha habido cambios en la organización, pero esperamos que para este verano.
.- ¿Habrá posibilidad de veros por Europa, y mas concretamente en España en un futuro no muy lejano?
Espero que si. Y no veo porque no. Lo pasamos muy bien la ultima vez que fuimos, así que estoy seguro que volveremos lo antes posible.
.- El sonido de ATP es realmente personal bajo mi punto de vista. ¿Sois conscientes de ello? ¿En que influencias os basáis para conseguirlo?
Me gustaría decir que nosotros hemos conseguimos lo que tenemos siendo honestos. No estamos intentando ser nada mas que lo que somos y nunca ha una idea preconcevida de que es lo que va a salir.
Con respecto a las influencias, las nuestras son bastante diversas pero creo que todos en el grupo coincidimos en Old rock y metal. Con la excepción de alguna banda de metal actual que me interese personalmente.
.- ¿En que medida a influido El Southern Rock, el Stoner o el Metal en el sonido de Alabama Thunderpussy? ¿Cuáles son las bandas que mas peso han tenido en esta influencia?, si es que las hay.
Como dije, nosotros tenemos diferentes gustos y apreciamos todo tipo de música. Todo lo que dijiste antes obviamente nos influye pero sería difícil especificar que bandas, porque eso siempre cambia para todo el mundo. Últimamente escucho bandas como: Merciful Fate, Trapeze, Cry of Love, Dio, Kool Kieth, old Judas Priest, UFO and the new Neil Diamond album. Pero solo hablo por mi. ja,ja.
.- Me gustaría que nos contases que cambios ha habido en la banda desde sus comienzos. Hay algunas informaciones confusas al respecto.
Bueno, desde que la banda fue una banda de verdad, nosotros hemos tenido 6 bajistas, 3 guitarristas (Erik ha estado en la banda todo el tiempo) y 2 cantantes diferentes. Creo que mientras que la motivación original esté intacta, los cambios pueden ser buenos y trabajando con personas diferentes es divertido.
.- Me imagino que en el pasado mantuvisteis relación con otras bandas, como Orange Goblin o Halfaway to Gone. En la actualidad, ¿seguís manteniendo contacto con estas?
Si, todavía hablo con ellos.
.- ¿Os gusta alguna banda actual? ¿Alguna recomendación?
Como dije, hay buen metal ahí fuera. Mastodon, High On Fire. He oido algo nuevo de Lamb Of God. Erik acaba de acabar de grabar un proyecto de death metal que es la hostia¡¡ Por lo que a música se refiere, es todo muy underground aún: RPG rules, el nuevo disco de Dixie Witch es muy bueno, Pearls and Brass esta guay. No se... realmente no salgo mucho y escucho casi todo el tiempo en casa mierda antigua¡¡
.-Con Fulton Hill el sonido de la banda es realmente demoledor e impredecible. ¿Que sorpresas nos esperan para el futuro?
No se.. creo que mucho material nuevo que vamos escribiendo, nos ha ido sorprendiendo incluso a nosotros. Últimamente hemos ido en direcciones bastante interesantes y tengo ganas de grabarlo.
.- ¿Algo que queráis añadir para la gente que disfruta con vuestra música? ¿Y que le diríais a los que os desconocen y pueda que este momento estén leyendo la entrevista?
Bueno, supongo que solo me gustaría decir gracias. Espero que vosotros lo paséis igual de bien escuchando la música que Alabama Thunderpussy ha hecho como nosotros haciéndola.. y espero que podamos beber cerveza juntos hasta que salga el sol cuando volvamos a tu ciudad o si vamos a alguna cercana... sal y ven a vernos¡¡
.- Para acabar, agradeceros esta charla, y deciros que da la sensación de que sois muy constantes en vuestro trabajo y eso se refleja en vuestra carrera hasta el momento. Cinco grandes álbumes en siete años lo avalan. ¿Algo que añadir por vuestra parte? Yo si. Espero que esto no sea mas que el principio de algo que nació siendo grande.
Bien, gracias de nuevo¡ Amo lo que hago. En mi vida he hecho nada que me guste tanto como tocar la batería en A.T.P. y espero que pueda hacerlo durante el resto de mi vida.

INTERIEW WITH ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY (ENGLISH VERSION)
.- First of all, we want to appreciate your availability to maintain this chat with "El Baile de las sombras".
**No problem!!
.- In which moment is the band at presente? I mean, if you have any project in mind.
**We are almost done writing a new record. Not sure when it’s gonna come out due to some chenges happening within the organization, but hopefully by this summer.
- Will there any possibility of seeing you in Europe and, specially, in Spain in a near future?
**I sure hope so. And I don’t see why not. We had a great time over there
the last time, so I am sure that we will be back as soon as possible.
- From my point of view, the sound ATP is really personal. Are you concious about it? Which are your influences to achieve it?
**I would say that we achieve the sound that we have by being honest. We
aren’t trying to be anything other than who we are and there’s never a
pre-conceived idea of what we should sound like when we’re writing. We
just get together and see what comes out. As far as influences go, ours
are pretty diverse, but I think that everyone in the band can agree on old
rock and metal. With the exception of some pretty cool metal bands,
there’s not too much new stuff out there that I get into personally.
- To what extent have the "Southern Rock", the "Stoner" or the "Metal" influenced in Alabama Thunderpussy´s sound? Which are the bands that have had more weight in this influence? If they exist, obviously.
**Like I said, we have pretty diverse tastes and appreciate all kinds of
music. All of that stuff you mentioned obviously influences us, but it
would be hard to nail down specific bands because that’s always changing for everybody. Lately, I have been listening to Merciful Fate, Trapeze, Cry of Love, Dio, Kool Kieth, old Judas Priest, UFO and the new Neil Diamond album. But that’s just me. haha.
- We would like to know which changes have undergone the band from her origins, because there is some confused information about it.
**Well, since the band was really a band, we’ve had 6 bass players, 3
guitar players (Erik’s been there the whole time) and two different
singers. I think that as long as the original motivation remains intact,
change can be good and working with different people is fun.
- I presume in the past, you kept in touch with other bands, like "Orange Goblin" or "Halfaway to gone". Nowadays, are you still in touch with these ones?
**Yep. Still talk to all of those guys now and then.
- Do you Like any curret band? Any recommendation?
**Like I said, there’s some good metal out there. Mastodon, High On Fire.
I heard some new Lamb Of God stuff that I thought was good and Erik just
finished recording a side project death metal album that kicks ass. As far
as rock music goes, it’s all in the underground still. RPG rules, the new
Dixie Witch record is really good, Pearls and Brass is cool. I don’t know
though man, I don’t really get out too much and I listen to pretty much
all old shit when I am at home.
- Band´s sound is actually overwhelming and unpredictable. ¿What surprises can we expect in the future?
**I don’t know. I do think that alot of the new stuff we’ve written has
been surprising even for us. We have gone in some pretty interesting
directions and I am really looking forward to getting this stuff on tape.
- Would you like to add anything to the people who love your music? and... What would you like to say to those who don´t know you and may be reading this interview in these moments?
**Well, I guess I would just like to say THANK YOU!! I hope that you have
as much fun listening to the music that Alabama Thunderpussy has made as we do making it. And I hope that when we can all drink lots of beer and
raise hell until the sun comes up when we come back to your town or a town near you. Come out and see us!
- Finally, appreciate again this chat, and remark that we have got the impression of you being constant in your work. This is reflected in your career up to now. Five albums in seven years are the proof. Do you have somethinr to add? I hope this is just the beginnig of something that was born to be timeless.
life that I liked as much as playing the drums in A.T.P. and I hope that
it will be something that I can always do. Good rock music is certainly
timeless and hopefully we can, in some small way, help to keep the ball
rolling.
